In effect, their money will just be going back to them. That is if you buy it from a Porsche dealer, not a shady Craigslist seller, of course...

Kinda bummed actually. This is saying to me “A fix is coming and its totally going to suck, but instead of buying back the cars, here have some money...good luck selling those fixed cars of yours!”

Sell the cars to a state without emissions testing and get that cheese $$$

Technically Utah doesn’t do diesel emissions testing so...I guess that’s good? I still want to sell it and get something else, because VW. Great little car but its starting to worry me a little.

I don’t have a problem with that, if I’m still getting what I want.

Wasn’t planning on selling this car any time soon anyway.

That actually seems like a pretty solid deal. I can’t imagine that many owners are really losing out on more than $5k if/when they go to sell their cars. I bet a decent amount will be making a good chunk of change this way.

I was hoping for a buyback or $10k per car. :(

I was about to go check the stock price to see if it was time to get out. Up over 5% today...seems like the market is pretty happy with the deal. I’m still holding, I just wish I had waited to buy when it was down at the bottom, around $23.

Step 1: Get the fix done (which is probably required to get the money).

Step 2: Temporarily drive car that sucks.

Step 3: Get car re-tuned by aftermarket shop to perform better.

What’s the tax rate on that?

There were something like 150k diesels affected by the cheat in the us, right? So, $750M out the window. Wow.

(almost) $1B down, $9B more to go!

From what I’m seeing you have to get it fixed before they fork over the cash... in other words, they give you cash to get a DPF delete and Malone tune ;)

~580,000 including the V6 models.

500,000 would basically be every 4 cylinder model from MK5 to MK7.
